New Kiln

Posted by: Eileen Wilson on 05/02/2018

There was great excitement in January when I took delivery of a lovely new kiln. The Potterycrafts Fireworker 68Lt Front loader was built, delivered and fitted by Kiln Services Scotland from Hamilton who always take great care of Swallow Sculpture Shed with supplies, services and advice. ( ) Sadly, this means parting with my trusty wee top loader, but it went to the very good home of a very talented young Sculptor/Ceramicist so it will be chugging away in another studio very soon. See Facebook for photos 😄

Interesting Project for Recent Kiln Hire

Posted by: Eileen Wilson on 16/12/2017

A recent customer had a very interesting project which required the use of my kiln. Joseph is carrying out a project for his SQA Advanced Higher in which he is comparing soil/sand samples across two Scottish beaches and testing for moisture and organic content. He needed to fire 18 samples to a temperature of 600 deg C using my wee kiln. See Facebook for the “moment of truth” as he opened the kiln.
